Interplant
Interplanting is a practice in which different crops are growing together at
the same time. It is the best way to maximize the productivity of your growing
space. Some crops are the best together, some not.

Increase the use of fertilizers
As soil fertility deteriorates, fertilizer use must increase. Governments need
to ensure the right type of fertilizers are available at the right price, and
at the right times. Fertilizer education lessens the environmental impact and
an analysis of such training programs in East Africa found they boosted average
incomes by 61%.

Optimizing Farm Operations
Since
farming is a complex process where every single activity contributes to the
ultimate goal, all activities have to be managed and coordinated properly. This
includes managing daily work orders by crops, varieties, fields/parcels,
workers, machines, and inputs, but also regular recording of all farm
activities. Poor management can lead to decreased efficiency and yield losses.

Vigorous
seeds, climate-specific seeds or genetically-appropriate livestock suitable for
a farm’s specific conditions and requirements to help increase yields.
