DO BETTER IN RECITATION AND READING QURAN – PART 4

    19. Record and compare

By recording yourself while reciting the Quran and then playing it back again helps to highlight many mistakes and flaws in the recitation. Repeating this process, again and again, would help to abstain from these mistakes and help improve fluency.

Besides, if you are unsure whether something you have pronounced or read is right or wrong, you can refer to your tutor or teacher or listen to any other known sheikh on YouTube.

    20. Have Patience

Achieving a beautiful Quranic recitation is a
gradual process that requires consistency and patience. Set realistic goals for
improvement and be patient with yourself as you progress. Remember that the
goal is not merely to recite the Quran mechanically but to recite it with
    understanding, sincerity, and beauty.

    21. Do
    Not Lose Hope

    Learning
Arabic is a difficult task that requires patience. Even after several attempts,
you can feel heartbroken if you are unable to read the correct noises. Remind
yourself why you began learning to recite the Quran during this time.

    Everything
is difficult at first, but that does not mean you should give up or lose sight
of your goal. Anything is possible. Failure is a part of life, but you will
learn from it and improve every day.

    22. Fulfil Every Requirement of the Quran

As you may already know, Holy Verses have Sajdah
(prostration) marks that require the reader to perform a Sajdah whenever he/she
    goes through it.

You must perform a Sajdah as soon as you read that
specific verse, as you might forget it later.

A person is also instructed to pause at the
appropriate places while reading the Quranic verses.

    23. Don’t Be Afraid of Making Mistakes

Making mistakes is a natural part of the learning
process.  Instead of being afraid of making mistakes, adopt a positive
mindset that embraces the learning process. View each mistake as a stepping
stone towards improvement and a chance to deepen your connection with the
    Quran.

When reciting the Quran, it is common to stumble
over words or mispronounce certain verses, especially when you are just
starting to learn. Embrace these mistakes as opportunities for growth and
    improvement.

    24. Sing
    a lot

    Singing
and reciting the Qur’an both use the same vocal apparatus. By singing a lot,
you train your vocal cords, neck muscles and your lungs and diaphragm to
function more effectively. As mentioned earlier, singing can also help you to
get familiar with particular melodies and maqams that can be applied
to Qur’an recitation – the more familiar you are with different melodic
patterns the more easily you will be able to add variety to your recitation
    style.

    25. Work on Breath Control

Proper breath control is essential for a beautiful
and sustained recitation. Learn to take deep breaths at appropriate pauses in
the verses to avoid running out of breath or sounding rushed. Breathing
correctly allows for a smoother and more controlled delivery, contributing to
the overall beauty of your recitation. Practice breath control techniques, and
be mindful of when to take a breath while reciting.

    26. Get Your iPod Out

If you are still struggling, the iPod technique will propel you forward. Get an online recitation from a famous reciter, whose voice you love. Listen to the recitation, one page at a time, as you read along the script with your finger. Even if the reciter goes way too fast for you to start with, just finger along the page. Then, rewind back to where the page started, and do it again, and again.

Because the reciter goes much faster than you, you can go over the same page several times in one sitting. Eventually, you will be able to follow with your eyes, and then your lips and tongue.
