The issue of passing exams has been a headache for a significant number of students, which has contributed to the increasing failure in examinations among students.
Examination, which is referred to as a formal test of a person’s knowledge or proficiency in a subject or a skill, is an integral part of an academic setting. The consistent failure of students in examinations has made it necessary to explore the various factors that contribute to the failure of students in examinations.
Some students blame others, like their teachers, parents, or friends. They usually say, “Teachers don’t teach well” or “Exam is too hard to pass.”. To be brutally honest, the reality is that poor result means the student did not study too well to pass.
Here are some causes of your failure in exams.
1. Laziness
This is on the top of the failure list. Laziness means that your teacher gave you assignments, notes, or other home tasks to prepare, but you feel lazy to do all these tasks. Some students don’t write notes in class, and even some students don’t like to attend class. They feel it is tough to sit and listen to what their teachers want to teach them. They find lame excuses to avoid these activities. They prevent it even though they know they could fail in class. Being Lazy is their priority.
2. Environmental Factors
A stressful or unsupportive home or school environment can negatively impact a student’s ability to focus on their studies.
3. Health Issues
Physical or mental health problems can affect a student’s ability to focus and study effectively.
4. Lack of Preparation
preparing for an exam is very important to ensure success. Hence, students who fail to prepare for an exam have a higher probability of failure.
5. Lack of interest
some students fail examinations because they are not interested in academics or in the examination. Therefore, students who express non-interest in academics or their course of study tend to fail examinations.
6. Bad Reading habits
I know some students who don’t like reading books because they feel lazy. It’s because they read when it is not a good time to read and sleep when it is a perfect reading time. Parents force them to sleep early, but students don’t force themselves to wake up early and read some books. So, they choose to sleep for more time and think about reading books during the night. The night is made for sleeping. When students try to read at night, they fall asleep in no time. The reason is that there is so dim light at night, which produces laziness in students.
7. Financial problems
Students experiencing financial troubles, or having a family experiencing financial issues tend to have their attention divided. Such students will not be able to concentrate on their examinations, which in turn may lead to failure.
8. Negative Mindset
Many students fail exams because they believe they will fail the exam- even before writing it. Therefore, with a failure mindset, lack of proper preparation sets in and it is most likely for such students to fail.
9. Group of friends
“Friends can either make or mare you”. The circle we choose to sit in is responsible for our actions. If you have a friend circle who studies wholeheartedly, then 99% chance that you also study hard and get good grades. Good friends encourage you to study and pass the exam, but bad friends tell you to play with them and fail as they do.
