A comfortable and relaxing school setting can help enhance the teaching and learning experience. One excellent way to support better learning in school is to provide the students with clean and well-organised environment where they can develop their skills and improve their knowledge. So saying, a school administrator must rely on a professional cleaning service to maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the school premises. To find professional cleaning services in Australia that offer exclusive school cleaning contracts or provide specialised cleaning services, we at EISAU can help you. Our list of cleaning contractors have qualified and experienced cleaners and maintenance staff that have undergone extensive screening and comprehensive training process.
What are your views on work-life balance? How much work will I be expected to do outside my contract hours? If you end up working there, hold them to that. If they expect you to spend more than your planning time to do all the grading, lesson planning, communication, etc., or they say something even implying, “As long as it takes to get the kids to learn,” then proceed with caution. It’s inevitable that you’ll spend some time outside of your contract hours, making it up to a 50-55 hour workweek, but I’ve had admin tell me working 80-90 hours a week shouldn’t be a problem, and that’s absurd. You should never put in two jobs’ worth of work for a job that might not even pay enough for one with your amount of experience and education.
A student is being disruptive and/or disrespectful to the point where they are sent to the office. What happens when they get to the office? What happens if they never arrive the office? What plan is in place to support teachers with frequently disruptive students? It’s sometimes said that you start the year with 90% of students being willing to follow the rules and expectations of being in a school/classroom, but everyone needs to have a plan for the other 10% so it doesn’t turn into 30-50%. Ineffective admin don’t have a plan.
How would you evaluate whether or not I have done enough as a teacher? If a significant number of students have a D or F grade, would that be considered a reflection on my teaching? You might end up in a school where many students are five years behind in your subject area. It is absolutely no fault of your own that a student who can’t and refuses to work with fractions can’t understand the idea of slope, but some admin think it’s your job to catch them up on five years’ worth of material or make the content accessible to someone who is lacking key prerequisite knowledge. Hell, some teachers think that’s your job, so it can be a good insight into what the working culture is like.
Celebrated actress, social activist and humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn, once said that quality education has the power to provide children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to reach their full potential.
Indeed, by giving our children access to quality education, we can help them achieve academic excellence, personal growth and professional success. Therefore, it is essential to invest in your children’s future by providing them with the best possible education that only a good school can provide.
But, how to determine what makes a good school? To uncover the answers to this question, we urge you to read this article to learn the key qualities of a successful and effective school. Here are some of them.
