13. Choose a topic relevant to you
Is there a topic you’re curious about? Grace,
repentance, forgiveness, or strength during trials? Look up specific verses on
any topic you choose and study each of them. You can also start with the
resources found on ChurchofJesusChrist.org,
which list common topics and related scripture verses. You can then use the
linked words to expand your study.
14. Find quality bible study tools.
God’s Holy Spirit will give you wisdom and
knowledge about what you’re studying, but He doesn’t do the work for you. God
knows “doing the work” of Bible study is part of how you internalize what you
learn.
There are additional tools to consider, but at a
minimum, it’s recommended to have these two resources available as you start
your Bible study journey.
15. Consider the background.
Every author wrote within a particular historical
setting and circumstance. Although the Bible is ultimately one book, it is also
a collection of 66 smaller books. Various books were written within different
cultures and circumstances. Ask, what was the original setting and
circumstance of the author and readers?
16. Study and Share with Others
Studying the Bible with others can be a rewarding
experience. It provides an opportunity to share insights, ask questions, and
deepen your understanding of the text. Consider joining a Bible study group at
your church or starting one with friends or family.
