Create a
Routine
Create a routine with enough structure that your
health and grade do not suffer. Ensure you have plenty of time to confirm your
code works before you turn in that assignment, watch that video lecture, or
practice the new
coding language you’re trying to learn. You should also make sure that
you have time to eat, sleep, and take breaks to do activities you enjoy.
However, your routine needs enough flexibility in case you oversleep, your
assignment due date changes, or your assignment or break takes longer than you
thought.
2. Focus on developing practical Computer Science
skills
What do you learn as a Computer Science student?
Most IT courses are not all theory compared to courses from other degrees,
like Sociology or Economics.
Even if Computer Science and Information Technology degrees include theoretical
classes, their approach is far more practical.
For instance, after a theoretical class, you will
have to apply that knowledge through practical exercises in a computer
laboratory.
3. Develop your math skills
Some parts of computer science require you to know
the math behind how they work. Developing your math skills can help you be a
more versatile computer science student and allow you to understand the
material you use. You can develop your math skills by taking courses that are
often encouraged by programs in computer science. You can also develop your
maths skills by talking to math students and professors and researching how to
do them using the internet.
