1. Play board games
Everyone loves to play
board games. Games add lots of fun to learning. Games like Uno involve number
counting and math skills. The best thing about the board game is that they are
helping to reduce a students’ maths anxiety. Always set the rules and structure
of the game as you want. Set winning milestones and rewards for each success
point. Different levels of games develop a new way of thinking and learning new
maths format.
2. Connecting mathematics to
existing knowledge
If we read a book in the
middle, we would be confused because we don’t have any background knowledge.
Sometimes, our students can be learning mathematics in the middle,
unintentionally.
To make mathematics
learning easier, we need to learn from our students.
What are the ‘early
chapters’ or gaps that are missing in their understanding?
What is it that they
already know?
What are things that they
don’t’ know that are important to the things we’re learning today?
Once we have a good grasp
of this, we can modify the way that we explain and present concepts to help
each student succeed. Knowing how your students learn best changes the way you
teach.
3. Pay attention more in math
class
Yes, it’s obvious that most
people just don’t want to do math, but you have to open your mind to new
possibilities. Listening and interacting in your math class will help your
skills and help you discover more.
Raise your hand and get out
of your comfort zone.
Don’t be afraid to get
things wrong! It’s the only way you’ll learn.
4.
Always do your homework.
The
traditional way of solving problems regularly can never be outdated and is very
much in use. Solving the sums on pen and paper is always demanding.
5. Understand maths
Instead of memorising
complex formulas, understand why they work. This will help you learn maths in an
easier way, therefore lessening the stress, and improves your logic and
thinking process.
